Shore Hosts Lower North Shore Careers Expo

23 May 2025
Shore was proud to host the Lower North Shore Careers Expo on Monday 12 May, welcoming students, families, exhibitors, and industry professionals from across the region to our North Sydney campus. It was a privilege to offer both the facilities and support for this valuable event, which brought together a broad range of educational institutions, employers, and training providers to help students explore future pathways.

The Expo attracted a diverse audience, including many students from neighbouring schools, and the atmosphere was one of curiosity, energy, and meaningful engagement. Across the exhibition space, conversations flowed as students asked thoughtful, well-prepared questions that reflected a genuine interest in understanding the future of industries and study beyond school. Exhibitors provided guidance on university courses, apprenticeships, vocational education and industry expectations, and consistently noted the positive and respectful engagement of Shore students and their peers.

A particular highlight of the event was the Human Library, a unique space where guests from a wide range of industries generously shared their personal career journeys in a relaxed, conversational setting. Many Old Boys and Shore staff themselves, these individuals offered insights into both traditional and emerging fields, helping students appreciate the diverse and non-linear nature of career development. The feedback from both students and Human Library participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many remarking on the meaningfulness of these direct, personal interactions.

Shore extends sincere thanks to all those who attended, contributed, and coordinated the event. We are especially grateful to the Human Library participants, who gave so generously of their time and experience to help guide the next generation. Events such as these underscore the importance of career education and community connection, and we are proud to play a role in supporting informed, aspirational decision-making among young people.
