Shore is pleased to unveil a new portrait of Dr John Collier, painted by renowned Australian artist Ms Ann Cape. This work stands as a tribute to Dr Collier’s outstanding leadership and enduring contribution to our School community.
The portrait was commissioned to mark Dr Collier’s retirement and to honour his dedicated service as the 9th Headmaster of Shore. Ms Cape, who has a long-standing connection to the School and has painted Dr Collier previously, brought both insight and warmth to the process. Her ability to capture the character of her subject is evident in the thoughtful details of the work, including a tie made by Dr Collier’s niece, a personal touch that reflects his deep family values. Her portrait offers not only a likeness, but a reflection of the qualities that made Dr Collier such a respected and admired leader. This portrait will be permanently displayed at Shore as a lasting reminder of Dr Collier’s legacy and the impact he has had on generations of students, staff and families.
On behalf of the School Council and the rest of the School community, I thank Dr Collier for his service and wish him every happiness in retirement.
Mr Rob Clarke
Chair of the Shore Council
