International Women’s Day 2026

13 Mar 2026

International Women’s Day (IWD) provided the Shore Community with an opportunity to reflect on the importance of women in our lives and the ongoing pursuit of gender equality in Australia. The 2026 theme, Give to Gain, encouraged giving time, knowledge, and support to create greater opportunities for women and girls, while challenging stereotypes and celebrating achievement. IWD reinforced the values of respect, inclusion, and advocacy, encouraging students to actively support gender equality in their own lives.

Celebrations

Senior School Students

Boys in Years 7 to 12 marked IWD through a student‑led Assembly and House‑based follow‑up activities. The Week 6 Assembly featured leaders from Queenwood School for Girls who spoke on the Give to Gain theme and the importance of gender equality. Learning was reinforced in House meetings through discussion, recognition cards, and a shared commitment to respectful, values‑driven action.

Prep School Students

Prep students explored the importance of women through age‑appropriate learning, discussions, and creative activities linked to inquiry units and learner profile traits. Across ELC and K,1,2, girls and boys learned about both famous and everyday women, focusing on being caring, principled, and respectful. Students in Years 3 to 6 also heard from the local State Member for Parliament and wore purple ribbons to acknowledge the day.

Staff

Staff celebrated IWD with a Coffee Cart and Doughnuts on each campus, providing an opportunity to connect and recognise the occasion. Acknowledgement cards were available for staff to express appreciation to colleagues, friends, or loved ones.
