Year 7 Shore boarder Wylie Hockey, has represented the school with distinction in the Interschool Horse Extravaganza held in Tamworth from 28 June.
Competing in the one-day event against students aged 12 to 15, Wylie competed in show jumping, dressage and cross country, bringing Shore home a 9th placing for his show jumping, an impressive feat in a competitor pool of 35, mostly older, students.
Balancing school sporting commitments with his equestrian passion has been one of Wylie’s biggest challenges since starting at Shore. But a smooth transition to boarding life means Wylie has not had to stop competing and every school holidays or trip home has seen him jump back on his horses.
With the next school holidays not too far away, Wylie is looking forward to his next show jumping competition challenge at the Quirindi Agricultural Show. He is also working to grow his skills in polo by attending the Scone Junior Polo School with his younger brothers Digby and Beau, expanding their family polo games to include his father, brother, uncles and cousins. The school wishes him well in these upcoming events.
