Shore played host on Monday night to the visiting (USA) Creighton University Bluejays in their tour game against the (Basketball Australia) Centre of Excellence team.

Touring Australia to explore the sights and hone their skills ahead of their upcoming US college basketball season, Creighton University requested to use Shore’s gym facilities over the weekend to train for last Monday’s game.

The game drew a bumper crowd, including more than 100 Creighton fans – mostly alumni now living in Sydney and family and friends of the students. Local basketball coaches, local junior basketball players and Fox Sports also joined in the spectacle.

The Centre of Excellence triumphed over the Creighton Bluejays, leading the game from the end of the third quarter and winning overall with a score of 79-66.

Basketball has rapidly become one of the most popular sports at Shore, with more than 450 senior boys and 44 teams expected to turn out in school colours in the upcoming GPS competition and other tournaments. Shore basketballers have in previous years represented NSW and Australia in their chosen sport.
