Year 12 Shore boy, Mitchell Mattison, has been chosen to represent Sydney FC in Amsterdam at the ABN-AMRO Future Cup Tournament in March. The tournament is widely recognised as one of the top U17 tournaments in the world. Mitchell will compete in the tournament as part of the Sydney FC Academy, which participates in the top level of youth football in the country.

Mitchell started playing football when he was just 4 years old at Northbridge Football Club. From day one he loved it and has spent many years playing and training for Shore. Mitchell’s Mum, Simone commented, “Mitchell has been part of the First XI for the last 3 years and was lucky enough to be part of the GPS Champion team for 2 consecutive years. He trialled and was selected for the Football NSW Institute and, at 15, was invited to join Sydney FC. He has enjoyed wearing the Sky Blue strip ever since and trains 3 nights a week at Valentines Sports Park, the headquarters of Football NSW.”

Shore Sportsmaster, Mr Mark Ticehurst shared: “I’m delighted to hear the news of Mitchell’s successful graduation to the senior ranks of Sydney FC. He epitomises the qualities we hope to foster at Shore: striving to achieve personal best in his chosen sport whilst maintaining a level headed approach to overall education.”

Playing predominantly in central defence Mitchell also enjoys a mid-field role in the team, his Mum shared: "Mitchell is so excited to be part of the ABN-AMRO Future Cup Tournament and is looking forward to being challenged against the best European U17 football players". Mitchell went on to say: “I’m incredibly excited to be selected for such a high level international competition, it will be an amazing experience!"
