At the 121st Head of the River regatta, the Shore boat club performed with distinction. From the 10 races Shore contested, the boat club finished with 5 first places, 2 second places, 1 3rd place and two fourth places. While the 1st VIII were defeated by St. Ignatius’ College, the School is proud of the performance of the crew on the day and their performances to date. Resilience is often forged in failure and the 1st VIII will look to the Australian Championships with an added hunger.
We congratulate St. Ignatius’ College on winning the Major Rennie trophy, their first win since 1975 and it was fitting that their victory should fall on St. Patrick’s Day with a coach called Doyle!
The 4th, 3rd and 2nd Year 10 VIIIs were dominant in victory, and coupled with a close second by the 1st Year 10 VIII the future bodes well for the rowing program. The victories by the 1st IV in reclaiming the Yaralla Cup and the 2nd VIII in reclaiming the L C Robson Memorial trophy were highlights of the programme.
The School reclaimed the Junior and Senior pennants as the dominant school in the 2018 season: congratulations to all coaches and rowers.
