On Monday, Shore’s Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students were greeted with a sea of glittery hats and feather boas to welcome the children back to the Northbridge campus.

There were smiles all round as the 150 students began to arrive, the teachers keen to fill their classrooms and regain some sense of normality.

“We’ve loved having the children of essential workers on campus throughout the temporary shut-down of the school, but we couldn’t wait to have everyone back,” said Natasha Mitchell, Deputy Head of Shore Preparatory School, Northbridge. “We’ve really missed the sound of 150 boys and girls learning and playing together and our staff were so excited to see all the children.”

The welcome party from all the teachers eased parents back into the school routine, many of them taking photos and waving their children off. Carolina Barrero, whose son Santiago is in Kindergarten at Shore, said: “It’s great to see Santiago enjoying being back at school, catching up with friends and learning in the classroom again.”
