The facility is situated at the picturesque Northbridge campus, nestled behind Shore’s spacious playing fields. It is adjacent to the Early Learning Centre. Construction of the Early Learning Centre, together with the Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 facility was completed in January 2003 and its first students commenced in February 2003.

The modern design of the Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 facility allows maximum flexibility for individual and group activities. The classrooms have been purpose built, providing excellent withdrawal and practical areas, as well as ample space for group work and access to technology. In addition there are specialist facilities for Library, Music, Visual Art, Information Technology, Physical Education and Dance.

The buildings have been designed to blend in with the delightful open spaces provided by the Northbridge environment. They are aesthetically pleasing and combine outdoor and indoor learning areas.

Philosophy and Programme

Shore Preparatory School aims to develop each child’s natural talents within a Christian, supportive, educational environment. Our programme is based around the belief that childhood is a unique and valuable stage of life. Staff at the School are committed to the care and overall development of every child.
Our programme for five to eight year-olds has been developed to encourage and stimulate the children in a number of areas of their education. There are two classes in each year level from Kindergarten to Year 2. The classes are supported by excellent facilities, together with specialist staff in Music, Visual Arts, Information Technology, Christian Education and Dance, plus a Learning Support team and a School Counsellor. Children are encouraged to explore and expand the limits of their abilities in all areas.

Recognising the importance of foundational skills in literacy and numeracy in the development of children receives strong emphasis in the Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 stage at Shore. The Library, specifically designed for children, is at the centre of the School, highlighting the importance of developing a comprehensive and challenging literacy programme. In addition to withdrawal and practical areas and ample space for group work, each classroom has been provided with technology, including a Smartboard, ipads and laptops to support and assist with day to day learning activities.

The important partnership between parents and school in the Early Learning Centre continues in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2. Parents are invited to share in practical support for various aspects of learning within the School.

The school day commences at 8.25am and concludes by 2.40pm. Optional after school activities include; Speech and Drama, French, Mandarin, Tae Kwon Do, Flag Rugby, Creativity and Mindfulness, and Tennis. After School Care is available from 2.40pm to 6.00 pm each day.

Children in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument privately. The instruments offered at this stage are Violin, Viola, Cello and Piano. Lessons occur during the school day and are usually 30 minutes long. There is usually one lesson per week during the school terms.
