Grandparents and Year 7 morning tea – 14th September 2018
The Shore Foundation and Shore Parents' Association recently hosted the Grandparents and Year 7's Morning Tea - this year in the School Dining Hall and also at Graythwaite. We enjoyed meeting family members, some new to Shore and others who were Old Boys and had some great stories to share of their time at school.
This event is one of the highlights of the American Tea and it was wonderful to see the smiling faces and happy moments between boys and their grandparents. As the Headmaster Dr Wright said, the care, guidance and support you provide your grandson is of great value as they grow into young men.
Thank you to Alex Wentzel and the String Quartet for their lovely music. Also a very big thank you to Lara Krawchuk and our wonderful team of parent helpers who helped make the day a success. It was great to have our team of year 10 photographers, to help with photos on the day.
You can view more photos from the morning tea by logging into the Shore Foundation page on Lampada.
The Foundation is planning to host more morning teas and tours of Graythwaite starting soon. Please contact the Foundation office if you would like to join us, email Catherine at Foundation@shore.nsw.edu.au

It was a celebration of all games played at Shore, as Parents, Old Boys and friends gathered for the 2018 All Sports lunch. Almost 500 people joined the fun at the Westin Hotel, enjoying a delicious lunch and great company. It was exciting to see many more in the Shore Community take part in our online auction.
The 2018 Captains of Sport were welcomed to their new roles by the Foundation President, Tony Young (77) and we heard a special message from Chris Savage – 2018 Captain of Cross Country. OBU President Andrew Winslade (87) made a very generous donation of $300,000 on behalf of the Old Boys’ Union toward the new Shore Physical Education Centre.
A team of ‘young’ old boys rallied the troops to buy raffle tickets, while Mark Ticehurst (Shore Sports Master) ran an entertaining sports quiz – the winner being our Deputy Headmaster Rod Morrison.
We enjoyed hearing from our panel, kindly hosted by Rod Kafer – with Dr Wright sharing insights from his recent sabbatical, Raelene Castle discussing her role as CEO of Rugby Australia and Rod Macqueen sharing his thoughts on the Shore Rugby programme.
Thank you to our supporters, who kindly contributed auction items and those who made generous donations. We are grateful to everyone who helped make the day such a great success.
In addition to the OBU donation, a record amount of $163,220 was raised on the day. Thank you to the Shore Community for your generous support of our boys.
