Dr Timothy Petterson
BSc(Hons), PhD, MBA, GradDipEd, DipBS, MACE
Dr Timothy Petterson became the 8th Headmaster of Shore in January, 2020.
He has a rich and diverse academic background. After attending Knox Grammar School, he studied Science at the University of NSW and was awarded a BSc (Hons) in 1993 before completing a PhD in Textiles Technology. He also has an MBA from the AGSM, a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Diploma of Biblical Studies. In 2004, he was awarded a Premier’s Teachers Scholarship that facilitated a course of study at Harvard Business School.
He began his teaching career at The King's School, and worked there for 11 years, teaching Business Studies, Commerce, Science and Biblical Studies. He lived on campus as a Housemaster and was also an Academic Year co-ordinator. In 2013, he became Principal of St Philip's Christian College, Port Stephens. The College experienced considerable success under his leadership. He made a significant contribution to teaching and learning, encouraged the pursuit of excellence across all endeavours, and oversaw the enhancement and expansion of learning spaces at the College.
Before pursuing his passion for teaching, Dr Petterson worked in a family textile manufacturing business in Sydney as Operations Manager.
Dr Petterson is married to Susan. They have a daughter who is studying at Sydney University and a son in Year 12.
