Congratulations, Judy Mussett The Shore Association is thrilled to announce that Judy Mussett has won an Award for Excellence, at the NSW Parent Council Awards last Friday night, for her volunteering services at the Northbridge Canteen.

Judy has worked tirelessly over the last 4 years in transforming the canteen into what it is today. It is regarded as being one of the best sporting field canteens in Sydney.

Judy's hard work has generated significant funds that go towards scholarships and bursaries and to purchase equipment for our boys, that the school budget otherwise wouldn't allow for. Judy is stepping down from her role at the conclusion of term 3, as her youngest son Henry will be finishing year 12. I'm sure you will want to join me in thanking Judy for all her hard work and wishing her all the best.

Parenting in the Age of Anxiety - Tuesday 1st August 12pm The Shore Association invites parents from both Senior and Preparatory School to attend an informative seminar on Parenting in the Age of Anxiety by John Burns, Clinical Psychologist and Head of Counselling Services at Shore.

Across the world, including the North Shore of Sydney, there appears to be a very noticeable increase in the number of children and adolescents being troubled by anxiety. This presentation will help parents be better informed about what anxiety looks like in young people and what factors drive anxiety in children and adolescents. Most importantly, this presentation will focus on what parents can do to "inoculate" their kids (of all ages) against anxiety and cope better when the pressures of life are building.

Date: Tuesday, 1 August 2017

Time: 12:00-1:30pm

Venue: Emery Room, Northbridge Campus

Cost: No charge - Refreshments will be served

RSVP: Monday 31 July 2017 Places are limited

Contact: For more information, please contact Electra Wiggs

John Burns is a Clinical Psychologist and Head of Counselling Services at Shore. He has spent over 20 years at Shore helping students and parents better cope with the challenges that life inevitably throws at families. He has a special interest in the role that schools can play in the early detection and intervention of emotional difficulties in young people.
